The Local Humanitarian Actors Forum
The Local Humanitarian Actors Forum (LHAF) aims to enhance the role of local actors as frontline leaders in humanitarian response and resilience building. The initiative provides structured technical support, engages leadership, and fosters collaborative platforms to strengthen capacities in humanitarian project management, anticipatory action, resource mobilisation, and adaptive programming. Established in 2024, LHAF was formed by Methodist Development and Relief Agency (MeDRA) in partnership with Christian Aid Zimbabwe.
To strengthen partnership, collaboration and coordination among local humanitarian actors
To enhance the capacity of local humanitarian actors to respond to emergencies
Key Approaches
The Local Humanitarian Actors Forum is designed to empower these local actors to navigate crises with confidence and effectiveness. Central to this approach are several key components:
Capacity Strengthening: We provide targeted training programs through the Learning Management System (LMS) courses and workshops to enhance essential skills contextualised for local humanitarian actors in Zimbabwe.
Knowledge Management: Our Knowledge Base acts as a digital library, offering essential resources such as toolkits, case studies, and best practices for local actors. This platform ensures that local actors remain informed about current humanitarian contexts and can apply evidence-based strategies in their work.
Strengthened Partnerships and Networking: By encouraging collaboration among local organisations, we aim to enhance a cohesive humanitarian response, leveraging collective strengths for a greater impact.
